Threadbare Theatre Workshop is inspired by theatre as collaborative craft to celebrate community, deepen belonging, and rediscover place. The Workshop makes theatre from scratch in rural places with local people—currently Downeast, on Wabanaki land.
After sold-out performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Mackerel Sky at Carding Brook Farm last summer, Threadbare will be the artists-in-residence at Reversing Falls Sanctuary for the 2022 season.
Threadbare Theatre Workshop illuminates epics in a simple way through the magic of resourceful storytelling; laying bare our humanity so we may thread more empathy into existence. We welcome community members as crucial collaborators– putting place at the center of their story. We are committed to making theatre from scratch across the local landscape; engaging its people + alternative spaces to foster creative partnerships within the community. We continue to celebrate + elevate the heritage of rural places, teaming up with denizens to devise an original work through collective creation.

MaineDOT has posted an “on-demand public meeting” on its website with respect to the proposed project to construct a sidewalk on South Street from Tradewinds to the Bay School.
THE COMMENT PERIOD WILL CLOSE ON FEBRUARY 19, 2021.
The scope of the proposed project was reduced from building sidewalks on both sides of the street due to higher project costs estimated by MaineDOT and the $400,000 maximum size of the grant awarded to cover 80% of the cost. (The Town of Blue Hill has previously voted to appropriate $100,000, representing the 20% local contribution to the project.)

Financial Contributions are, of course, often critical. Many projects require the input or expertise of professionals who require some compensation for their services or their own out of pocket costs. Others may have 100% volunteer labor, but require construction materials, etc. with significant cost.

In-Kind Donations. BHCD’s startup has already benefited from the pro bono efforts of local Blue Hill professionals. If you would consider supporting our projects with a donation of goods or services, please visit the In-Kind Donations page for more information.
Ideas. While the (small) BHCD board has some ideas about how to make Blue Hill an even better place to live, the organization was founded to help facilitate ideas from the community at large. We are actively soliciting ideas—the more worthwhile projects we can identify and support, the more effective the BHCD organization will be for the entire town. Native Gardens of Blue Hill has received $5,000 from the Davis Conservation Foundation to support construction of an ADA compliant trail at NGBH’s principal public garden at the Bagaduce Music Lending Library. The grant was awarded under the fiscal umbrella of Blue Hill Community Development.
