Native Gardens Grant Success

Native Gardens of Blue Hill has received $5,000 from the Davis Conservation Foundation to support construction of an ADA compliant trail at NGBH’s principal public garden at the Bagaduce Music Lending Library. The grant was awarded under the fiscal umbrella of Blue Hill Community Development.

NGBH is constructing a public garden using Maine native plants to demonstrate their beauty and utility in a bio-diverse landscape, to support sustainable gardening practices, and to offer opportunities to experience natural habitats.  The trail will strengthen and improve the physical and programmatic links between NGBH and existing community organizations, including Healthy Peninsula, Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, Parker Ridge, Blue Hill Heritage Trust, and area schools.  The trail constructed with funds awarded by Davis Conservation Foundation will connect to a footpath leading into woodland gardens planned for the future.

More information about NGBH and its public gardens can be found at www.nativemainegardens.org.
