Native Gardens of Blue Hill has received $5,000 from the Davis Conservation Foundation to support construction of an ADA compliant trail at NGBH’s principal public garden at the Bagaduce Music Lending Library. The grant was awarded under the fiscal umbrella of Blue Hill Community Development.

Sometimes an idea takes some time for a community and volunteers to coalesce their support and develop an actionable plan. To the extent suitable projects are proposed, but don’t the broad support and resources necessary to move forward, BHCD may publish “concept” pages and contact information to help facilitate coordination amongst like-minded volunteers.

The BHCD board has approved the application of ISLE Theater Company to become a sponsored project.
ISLE Theatre Company completed two productions in 2021 and plans an enhanced 2022 season on the Blue Hill Peninsula and Deer Isle. More information about past programs and future plans can be found at the ISLE Theater Company website, with a brief description and information on how to support ISLE Theater’s activities via donations on the BHCD site.

After some discussion, BHCD has decided to host a community forum at which a representative of American Cruise Lines (ACL) would (hopefully) share the company’s plans for visiting Blue Hill over the summer—how they plan to get visitors from the South Blue Hill wharf to downtown shops, what other “shore activities” they envision offering, how they plan to work with local merchants, service providers, etc.
