Main Street Collaboration
Description
A significant number of Blue Hill’s merchants, downtown property owners and other interested residents have formed several committees to help “get things done” in town to make Blue Hill a better place to live, work, and visit.
BHCD sponsors these efforts by making its “infrastructure” (website, charitable donation platform for suitable projects, email lists) available to the various Main Street committees to make them as effective as possible.
The Organization Committee has decided to cancel the November group meeting (originally scheduled for November 19) to provide each of the committees with time to more fully develop the work plans for their priority projects and to identify what resources (volunteer or otherwise) they need to make progress. This will hopefully make for a more dynamic December meeting that will be a better use of everyone’s time.
There has been a substantial amount of activity on the part of local merchants and downtown property owners to explore the “Main Street America” development model and its potential applicability to Blue Hill. To build on those efforts, BHCD will sponsor a community forum on February 5, 2018 in the GSA Library.
