Silver Maple
(Acer saccharinum)
A medium to large, fast-growing tree. Native to SE South Dakota. Is the
softest of all maples used for lumber.
Crown Height - 40 to 65 feet
Crown Width - 30 to 50 feet
Root System - Sahllow, vigorous, grass-feeding root system. Can cause
sidewalks to heave and buckle.
Susceptible to drought, winter stem dieback, sunscald injury and chlorosis
affted by genetic variability and original seed source. Full sun.
